HIKING AND ALPINE TOURS IN THE DOLOMIES ALPS AT LAKE GARDA
ON THE MARMOLADA DOLOMITES AND ADAMELLO GLACIER
PARKS AND NATURE
PN.1 - TREKKING in STELVIO National Park (CEVEDALE Mountains).
Ascent of ROSSA PEAK which is one of the most panoramic peaks in the ORTLES and CEVEDALE Mountains. It is
possible to practice climbing techniques in safety on the walls which are adjacent to the mountain lodge. A
comfortable path will lead us to the STERNAI Lakes and MALEDA Valley. There we can still find eagles, ibex and
red deer. The jewel of the STELVIO National Park is SAENT Valley which is famous for its waterfalls as well as
Pra' di Saent with its typical alps and numerous marmots - an idyll of untouched flora and fauna.
PN.2 - TRKKING from FUMO Valley to GENOVA Valley (ADAMELLO Mountains).
Crossing: from FUMO Valley to GENOVA Valley in typical high-alpine environment with view over the enormous
glaciers of Care' Alto (3.463 m) surrounded by cascades and untouched flora and fauna.
PN.3 - TREKKING - ALTA VIA on MONTE BALDO (medium - MBa).
Degree of difficulty and notes: Wonderful hiking tour in the natural park of Monte Baldo on easy hiking path on
the mountain crest which divides the Adige Valley from Lake Garda with little elevation difference. We spend one
night in a typical mountain lodge. From the naturalistic point of view, this trekking tour is very interesting
because it is offering a unique panorama over the entire Lake Garda, the Venetian plains, the Brenta Dolomites
and the Adamello Glacier.
TREKKING & HISTORY
TS.1 - TREKKING - following the trails of World War I. in the ADAMELLO (MAd).
The trails which have been constructed by the soldiers during World War I. are leading us to the fomer
battlefields where Austrian and Italians had combatted against each other during the cruel "White War". An
excellent physical condition is a prerequisite for the participation in this glacier crossing due to the long
duration and the large difference in altitude.
The rental of equipment is possible (such as crampons, harness etc.).
TS.2 - HISTORICAL TREKKING in the PASUBIO Mountains (RPa).
This mountain chain, located at the border to the province of Venezia, was of major strategic interest during
World War I., as it was the last fortress of the Austrian-Hungarian empire in Trentino and Venezia. The first
unvoluntary mountaineers, Italian and the Austrian soldiers, have left behind many traces such as man-made
tunnels and trails.

CLIMBING VIA FERRATA AT LAKE GARDA AND IN
THE DOLOMITES ALPS ITALY
VIE FERRATE
PA.1 - VIE FERRATE "BOCCHETTE" via ferrata and trekking in the BRENTA-Dolomites (RBo).
These famous "vie ferrate", iron/ladder paths, are very well-known amoung the mountaineers all over the world.
These "paths" which are directly passing at the foot of the Dolomite walls are sometimes rather airy and narrow.
The participants should not be high-shy and should have some mountain experience.
The rental of equipment is possible (such as harness, ferrata-set, helmet).
PA.2 - Vie ferrate/iron/ladder paths and trekking in the Dolomites.
The starting point of our tour is Lake Garda; we will cross the famous Brenta Mountain Group and, last not least,
we will make it to the top of Marmolada.
The rental of equipment is possible (such as helmet, harness, crampons, ferrata-set, etc.).
GLACIERES & ALPINE TOURS
GA.1 - TREKKING from LODGE to LODGE in the BRENTA Dolomites.
Our daily excursions will lead us past the famous and never-ending walls of the Brenta-Dolomites. For those who
are interested, it is possible to try some climbing on Dolomite limestone.
The rental of equipment is possible (such as helmet, crampons, harness etc.).
GA.2 - TREKKING on CARESER GLACIER (CEVEDALE Mountains).
The large and flat CARESER Glacier is located in the STELVIO National Park between RABBI and PEJO Valley. The
crossing of the glacier is an interesting challenge but can be mastered without difficulties.
The rental of equipment is possible (such as crampons, harness etc.).
GA.3 - MARMOLADA trekkingin the Dolomites (RMa).
Located between Fedaia Lake in the North and Ombretta Valley with its famous and more than 1000 m long Southwall.
An excursion through the San Nicolo' Valley will prepare us for the coming days. The ascent to the "Queen" of the
Dolomites - the Marmolada at 3.342 m - is technically not difficult, however, a good phyical condition is
indispensable for the participation at this tour.
GA.4 - GLACIER TREKKING IN THE ADAMELLO MOUNTAINS (RAd).
The National Park of ADAMELLO-BRENTA with its 618 sq. km is one of the largest nature reserves in Trentino. The
crossing of the largest European glacier is technically easy and offers a unique panorama of high-alpine mountain
scenery. An excellent physical condition is a prerequisite for the participation in this glacier crossing due to
the long duration and the large difference in altitude.
This price includes the guidance by an internationally licenced mountain guide, half-board in the mountain lodge
as well as the transport of the backpack to Care' Alto lodge by cableway. The rental of equipment is possible
(such as crampons, harness etc.).

relaxation.
1 - Crossing Val di Ledro - Limone
Hiking in a particularly scenic landscape - departing from
Rovereto with our mini-van, we are heading towards Lake Garda until we have reached the starting point of our
trekking tour at Lake TENNO (ca. 45 min by car). A footpath is leading us through meadows and pastures, passing
characteristic alps. The difference of altitude which has to be mastered is ca. 700 m. We will take our
lunchbreak on Peak Mughera, a mountain top located high above Lake Garda from where we can enjoy a fantastic view
over the entire Lake and the surrounding mountain chains. Descent to LIMONE ca. 2 hrs. From Limone back to Riva
by ferry boat - end of the tour. Back to Rovereto and/or your hotel at Lake Garda.
2 - Excursion to Monte Baldo (2.079)
Trekking tour in a particularly scenic landscape - We are departing from Rovereto with our mini-van. Our main
direction is Lake Garda but prior we will turn off to Brentonico. All in all, after approx. 40 min. by car, we
will get to a mountain lodge which is located at an altitude of 1.650 m. This is the starting point of our
trekking tour. A path which has been constructed during World War I is leading us through the famous Natural Parc
of Mount BALDO. After approx. 2 hrs by foot, we will reach the mountain top which is very close to an alpine
lodge where we can have a break. Very often this peak is being called the "balcony" over Lake Garda as from there
it is possible to view the entire Lake, the Dolomites and the famous Adamello Mountain chain. Back to Rovereto
and/or your hotel at Lake Garda.
3 - Pasubio - mountains of 1st World War
Trekking tour in particularly scenic landscape against a great historical background. Departing from Rovereto
with our mini-van we are heading towards Vicenza. After ca. 60 min by car we have reached the starting point of
our tour at "Passo Xomo". There we find one of the most incredible constructions created by the soldiers who had
been fighting here during Word War I: a "trail" built through the rocks - consisting of 52 tunnels some of which
are up to 300 m long. We are following this "road of war" with its tunnels until we reach the mountain lodge
"Rifugio Papa" where we can have a snack. Ascent to "PALON Peak" (2.230 m). The entire surrounding area was the
arena of the merciless battles during World War I and is still rich of many remainders. From an alpinistic point
of view this trekking tour is not difficult although it is rather long. Wonderful panorama; with good weather it
even possible to see Venice and the Adriatic Sea. Back to Rovereto and/or your hotel at Lake Garda.
4 - National Park ADAMELLO-BRENTA (5 lakes hikingtour)
Extremely interesting tour in the
National Park and the surroundings of the glacial lakes in the Dolomites. Departing from Rovereto with our
mini-van, we are heading towards MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO until we have reached the starting point of our trekking
tour after ca. 90 min. by car. A footpath through a forest will lead us to the first lake "Nambino" and following
to - Lake Nero - Lake Serodoli and at the top of our tour - Lake Gelato - 2.390 m. On the way back we are passing
near the fifth lake "Lambin" and further on to the mountain lodge Nambin (break). In about 20 min. from the lodge
we will arrive at our mini-van which will take us back to Rovereto and/or your hotel at Lake Garda.

surroundings of towers and eternal walls of the Dolomites. Departing from Rovereto with our mini-van, we are
heading towards MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO until we have reached the starting point of our trekking tour after ca. 90
min. by car. After ca. 2 hrs. on a footpath through a pine forest, we will reach the mountain lodge "Rif.
Brentei". An alpinistic path is leading us to the famous "Bocca di Brenta (2.550 m) which is situated in the
heart of the Brenta-Dolomites. After approx. 2 hours we reach another mountain lodge, "Rif. Pedrotti alla Tosa"
where you can have a snack. Descent and way back (ca. 3 hrs. walking time) to our mini-van. Back to Rovereto
and/or your hotel at Lake Garda.
6 - High Tour - Top of Marmolada (3342)
Departing from our meeting point with our mini-van, we are heading towards FASSA VALLEY. After ca. 90 min. by
car, we have reached LAKE FEDAIA from where we will take the cableway to the mountain lodge "Rifugio Pian dei
Fiacconi" (2.625 m). On the adjacent glacier we will teach and practise the correct use of pick and crampons in
ascent and descent. Overnight stay in "Pian dei Fiacconi" lodge. Next day: crossing of the glacier and ascent to
the peak of MARMOLADA (ca. 3 hrs.). Descent to "Pian dei Fiacconi" lodge and back to where we have parked our

THE
MOUNTAIN GUIDES
International Union of Associations of Mountain Guides
Our membership of the International Union of Associations of Mountain Guides (IFMGA ), followed, along with
increased training and rigorous assessment. This membership, shared at present with guides from sixteen other
countries, gives our Mountain Guides absolute equivalence with Guides in Alpine countries and throughout the
world. The award of the International Guides Carnet demands the highest standards of skill and professionalism in
all aspects of mountaineering.
The Scope of Guiding
In any year the range of mountain activities offered by Guides is staggering. Mountain Guides safely and
successfully lead groups to the highest and most remote mountains on earth. Some Guides specialise in Alpine
mountaineering whilst others work mainly with young people, senior climbers or women. Guides are able to provide
group instruction and personal guiding at every level from easy climbs, walks and scrambles to the most demanding
ascents at home and abroad all year round. Guides also offer instruction and guiding in snow and ice climbing as
well as ski mountaineering and off-piste skiing. Many Guides offer Sport Climbing throughout Europe whilst on
Alps rock and indoor walls instruction and guiding is always available. Guides are able to work at all levels
making sure that the walking party will receive the same care and exclusive attention as someone who wants to
find their limits on rock, ice or at altitude.
Beyond Guiding
Guides are increasingly involved in equipment design, development and testing, others act as consultants or
assist in filming. Many offer lectures, write on mountain related matters and give technical advice. Mountain
Guiding is not only a profession but is also a vocation. Our members are united by their love of the mountain
environment and their common aim. This is to assist others, their clients, to realise their mountain dreams and
to find the exuberant joy, the wonderful unforgettable days which are so inseparable from the game of
mountaineering at whatever level we wish to play. Guides cannot remove all danger from an activity but with their
great depth of knowledge and continually updated training they can certainly ensure that any normal risks are
contained, so that their companions can freely savour the full scope of the experience offered.
THE MOUNTAIN GUIDES OF
ALPINE SCHOOL TRENTINO ITALY
The history of the alpine guides in Trentino began with the birth of alpinism in
the Dolomites. Its protagonists are explorers from England, Germany, Austria and local mountain guides. The
mountain guide' s profession has been subject to changes and development. Until the end of the 18th
century they were the guides of rich aristocrats keen on granting their name to a famous peak or wall. The modern
alpine guide however, is a professional with not only a profound knowledge of the manifold traditional and modern
alpine techniques but is also an expert in nature, culture and history. In those days and at present, the
mountain guides are the authors of national and international alpine history.
The Trentino Alpine Guide Association is preparing the guides for their professional life. In Trentino 200 alpine
guides are registered; they are being distributed among 12 alpine schools and/or other types of guides'
associations. Practically in each valley of Trentino you can find an association of mountain guides which can
provide information and advice. The alpine schools or guides' associations are offering a vast range of
activities and courses which can be booked directly. With a mountain guide on your side, a day in the mountains,
a simple excursion through the forests of our National Parks or a climbing tour in the Dolomites, will become an
unforgettable experience.
The alpine guides of Trentino are publishing an annual program offering daily or weekly excursions/events which
are suitable for everyone who has already been in the mountains but is mainly addressing those who want to make
first contact with them. The program includes excursions, trekking tours, climbing tours, high alpine treks, rock
climbing or excursions in the National Parks with special park guides.
